If you think Beyonce's Lemonade album is only about "Becky with the good hair" then its time to wake up. The film ( wouldn't dare call it just a video) is far more explicitly about race and specifically, the experience of black women. Lemonade featured the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and Eric Garner, holding photographs of their dead sons; and cameos from a number of young, black celebrities, such as Serena Williams, Zendaya, Amandla Stenberg and Quvenzhané Wallis.
It's about giving voice to the experiences of black women, who are invisible in a country who tear us down. I'm not saying that white people can't relate any things in Lemonade and apply it to themselves. However this is an authentic venture into what it is to overcome hardship, a fear that black women know too well. Queen B is using her position to prove that black girls are indeed, MAGICAL!
